Effective Connections

In its thirty-fourth edition, the trade show became a connection platform that brought together a total of 524 exhibitors and fashion professionals from countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Ecuador, Turkey, and Italy, who connected with attendees and international buyers thanks to the attractive and disruptive value propositions featured in the trade show, and which generated approximately USD 12 million in sales, according to ProColombia figures, demonstrating the potential of Colombian fashion in international markets such as Ecuador, the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Venezuela.

“Colombiamoda + Colombiatex 2023 has become the leading fashion, business, and talent event in the entire region and makes history with significant participation figures. We saw an increase in international buyers compared to previous years, with a total of 1,546 buyers. This is very positive because it shows that the international market is interested in Colombian fashion. It is significant to see how the international market keeps its eyes on Colombia, and we are seeing a major upturn from countries such as Panama, Chile, and Spain,” says Sebastián Diez, Executive President of Inexmoda.

Colombia Fashion Week went beyond the walls of Plaza Mayor with an agenda of fashion moments that took over different spaces across the city around fashion, culture, and entertainment, thanks to partnerships with organizations such as Metro de Medellín, Comfama, Hotel San Fernando Plaza, and El Cielo, among others. This generated an economic impact of USD 14.4 million for Medellín, an increase of USD 2.4 million compared to last year.

Colombiamoda + Colombiatex 2023: A Platform for Internationalization, Women’s Empowerment, Entrepreneurship, and Community Work

Colombia Fashion Week was the driving force that put entrepreneurship, internationalization, sustainability, and women’s empowerment center stage. More than 35 brands from the Transformation Projects had the opportunity to showcase their proposals on the most important business, trends, and knowledge platform in Latin America.

In partnership with FedEx Express, Inexmoda provided various tools to help 25 fashion-system companies access new markets through the Sonnar project. Through training tools led by top-level experts, they gained new insights for transforming their business models. This brought to life the trade show’s goal of expanding the visibility of Colombian fashion around the world.

Along these lines, Mujeres Cambiando la Moda (Women Changing Fashion), in partnership with Banco de Bogotá, showcased five women-led fashion ventures on the runway. For the eighth consecutive year, the runway show of Proyecto Épica was presented, an initiative that seeks to accelerate Fashion System ventures and connect them with the market so they become more profitable and sustainable, in partnership with the Medellín Mayor’s Office. The Horizontes de Antioquia es Mágica runway show by Alado & Co., in collaboration with entrepreneurs from the Proyecta Nuevos Mercados program, was a proposal aimed at showcasing the best of the department of Antioquia. Finally, through the Risaralda Governor’s Office in partnership with Inexmoda, the dream of an own brand came true with ‘Thilo, moda de origen’, a collection created by 350 Indigenous and rural women from the “Desarrollo con Sentimiento de Mujer” program.
